31st Annual Polar Plunge Returns

Our Annual Polar Plunge is back again with the same mission: feeding youth in our community who are experiencing food insecurity. Family, friends, and community are welcome to jump in, donate, or spectate in this awesome event taking place on Saturday, March 16 at 11:00 am at the Oakland Boat Launch, in Oakland!

The Polar Plunge event is an exhilarating tradition that challenges participants to embrace the icy waters of Messalonskee Lake in early Spring. In this fundraiser, participants willingly take the plunge into near-freezing waters to raise awareness and funds for various causes here at the AYCC. The event often attracts a diverse group of participants, including individuals, teams, and even local communities, all united by a shared willingness to step out of their comfort zones and experience the shockingly cold embrace of winter waters.

This year’s theme is PIRATES and participants often dress up in thematic costumes, adding an element of humor and lightheartedness to the event. While the plunge itself is a thrilling and chilling experience, the event also serves as a powerful symbol of resilience and commitment to making a positive impact in the community. The collective effort to brave the cold and support a charitable cause fosters a sense of solidarity and leaves participants with lasting memories of their shared adventure. Prizes will be awarded, and our Grand Prize this year is a one-week stay at the West Wind II Resort in the Bahamas!!

We are so very excited for our 31st annual event this year – we have over 40 registered jumpers including friends, volunteers, donors, and staff.
