Alfond Youth & Community Center Offers Free Workforce Readiness Program for Teens and Young Adults
Waterville, Maine – January 27, 2025 – The Alfond Youth & Community Center (AYCC) is proud to announce the launch of its Workforce Readiness Program, a free initiative designed to prepare teens and young adults, ages 14 to 21, for success in today’s competitive job market.
The program offers hands-on workshops and training sessions aimed at building essential life skills and workforce competencies. Participants will explore topics such as resume building, interview preparation, workplace etiquette, financial literacy, and effective communication. These sessions empower young people to approach their future careers with confidence and purpose.
Upcoming Sessions:
- What: Free Workforce Readiness Program
- Who: Teens and young adults, ages 14-21

- Cost: FREE
- Light Refreshments are provided at each session
Each session is designed to equip young people with essential skills for entering the workforce, featuring expert-led workshops by various community partners. Upcoming topics include:
- Military Careers (Maine Army National Guard) – Feb 4
- Conflict Resolution Skills (Cappza’s Pizza) – Feb 15
- Civilian National Service Opportunities (AmeriCorps) – Mar 4
- Financial Literacy for Success (Golden Pond Wealth Management) – Mar 15
- Outdoor Recreation Opportunities (Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce) – Apr 1
- Resume Building & Mock Interviews (Maine Career Center). – Apr 19
- Emergency Management Skills (Maine Emergency Management System) – May 6

“Preparing the next generation for the workforce is critical to building a strong, sustainable community,” said Patrick Guerette, AYCC Chief Operating Officer. “Our Workforce Readiness Program equips young people with the tools and knowledge they need to succeed professionally while inspiring them to dream big.”
