AYCC to Host Flag Day Celebration with Waterville Police Department & American Legion
Waterville, ME – The Alfond Youth & Community Center (AYCC) is proud to announce a special Flag Day celebration on June 14th, in partnership with the Waterville Police Department and the Waterville American Legion Post 5. This event will honor the American flag and the sacrifices of servicemembers and first responders.
Flag Day, a holiday dedicated to the remembrance and respect of the American flag serves as an important occasion for the retirement of flags that have completed their service. The retirement ceremony, which involves the respectful burning of worn-out flags, offers a solemn moment to reflect on the contributions and sacrifices made by those in service to our country.
The celebration will take place at the AYCC, beginning at 4:00 PM. Attendees will include AYCC staff, former Mayor and retired General Don Marden, AYCC After School Program and Teen Programs youth, and members of the American Legion Post 5. The event promises to be a memorable occasion for the entire Waterville community.
