Dive into a world of refreshing aquatics and sun-soaked leisure at our outdoor oasis – the Alfond Municipal Pool Complex (AMPC). Nestled in the heart of Waterville, our fantastic facility offers a haven for families, fitness enthusiasts, and community members alike! We welcome individuals and families from all over Central Maine and beyond!

Enjoy the pristine blue pools, with two thrilling tube slides, serene lap lanes, and interactive water features for all ages. Whether you seek a splash-filled escape from the heat or a place to perfect your backstroke, our pools cater to every aquatic desire. And don’t forget, we offer swim lessons, and party rentals too!

The AMPC also features lush green grass, perfect for picnics on a blanket or a frisbee toss. With ample grassy areas and a covered pavilion area, there’s plenty of room for everyone! Bring your snacks, lunch, and beverages (non-alcoholic, of course), or stop by our concession stand for, or a snack and a cold soda or water or that forgotten sunscreen. Our attentive staff and certified lifeguards are there to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all.

The Alfond Municipal Pool is CLOSED for the season as of September 2, 2024. Thank you for another successful summer at the outdoor pool!

Daily Admission

Prices are per person / non-swimmers ages 6mos & under are free.

All persons entering the pool complex must have a season pass under their own name, or pay the daily admission. There is no spectator option as our Lifeguards and staff are responsible for all persons in the complex.

Cost: $90.00/child

Lessons are held twice per week for a 4-week session. Two sessions are available.

Rental Fees 

Fees are based on 50 individuals.

  • Non-Resident Pool Only – $300.00
  • Non-Resident Pool + Slides – $400.00
  • Waterville Resident Pool Only – $250.00
  • Waterville Resident Pool + Slides – $350.00
  • Picnic Table Rental – $50.00/hour
  • Additional Lifeguard – $50.00/hour for additional 25 individuals

Waterville Residents

The City of Waterville subsidizes season passes (not daily admission) for residents as indicated in the chart above. Proof of residency is required at the time of purchase.

Proof of residency is required.

Examples include:

  • Driver’s license
  • State issued ID
  • Utility bill
  • Vehicle registration
  • Lease

Flotation devices must be US Coast Guard approved as printed on the device and are permitted only in the splash pool and section 1 of the large pool (speak with a manager regarding patrons with qualified disabilities).

The AMPC has recently purchased several USCG certified life jackets in varying sizes for patron use. There is no fee to use one of the life jackets, however, due to the cost of the items, we will require users to provide collateral (car keys, ID, etc.) When returned to the pool counter, staff will return the collateral.

Please see pool counter staff to use the life jackets. If you have any questions about your personal items being USCG approved, please see the counter staff or the Manager on Duty.

Arm bands/floaties are not permitted at the AMPC.

  • Lifeguards have discretion regarding safety.
  • Children under the age of 12 must always be supervised by an adult (age 16+) inside the facility.
  • Adults must be in the water and within arm’s reach of all non-swimmers and children 6 and under.
  • Swim diapers only (no regular diapers).
  • Children ages 6-17 must take a swim test with a lifeguard before swimming in the deep end. Children 5 and under must remain in shallow sections.
  • Flotation devices must be US Coast Guard approved as printed on the device and are permitted only in the splash pool and section 1 of the large pool (speak with a manager regarding patrons with qualified disabilities).
  • Must be 48″ tall to use slides.
  • Feet-first entry into all pools. Jumping allowed in the deep end (6 ft.) only.
  • Extended breath holding is not permitted.
  • Please stay off lane lines.
  • Drinks must be in plastic or cans (no glass).
  • Smoking/vaping is not allowed anywhere on the property.
  • Practice sun safety. Apply SPF 30+ frequently and spend time in the shade. Drink plenty of water.
  • A manager is always on duty and happy to assist you.
Three whistles = immedately & safely evacuate the pool

Throughout the summer, our Lifeguards are tested with emergency drills for training purposes and occasional emergencies take place

Lifeguards will blow their whistles three times in a drill or emergency situation. Guests must clear the pool quickly and safely. Once the Manager on Duty determines that everyone is safe, families will be allowed to return to the pool.

The Alfond Municipal Pool Complex operates in most weather conditions. However, due to guest and staff safety, the complex may temporarily close due to heavy rain, high winds, and thunder and lightning. Refunds will not be issued.

  • Closing the complex for the day during a storm:
    • Guests who have purchased a day pass and remain inside the complex will receive a pass to enjoy the park on another day during the 2023 season. Refunds will not be issued.
    • Guests who have purchased a day pass and left the facility prior to the closure by their own choice, will not receive a weather pass or refund.
  • Closing temporarily during a storm or for pool cleaning: no refunds or weather day passes will be issued.
  • Season Pass Holders are not covered under this policy – no refunds or weather day passes will be issued.

The Alfond Municipal Pool Complex is operated by the Alfond Youth & Community Center through a community partnership with the City of Waterville. The pool is owned and maintained by the City of Waterville Parks & Recreation Department.

 

   

FAQs
Does my AYCC membership include outdoor pool admission?

No, the AYCC membership does NOT include the outside pool. The pool is owned by the City of Waterville, and the memberships are separate.

Yes, on season passes. See above for guidelines/rules.

Nope. You can purchase a day pass or an additional pass for their age category. All members with a family pass must reside in the same home.

Yes, on swim lessons & season passes. Applications are available at the AYCC and we require one month’s proof of income to process. Or, download the form, complete and drop off at our Welcome Center for processing.

Yes, they include both. However, you must be 48″ tall to use the slides.

Yes, we charge admission for everyone over 6 months of age. Our lifeguards are responsible for everyone in the pool complex area, not just those in the pool.

Safety regulations require users to be at least 48″ tall without shoes. We will measure your child upon checking into the pool.
