Excitement Builds for Summer Camp Olympics at Colby College

Waterville, ME – July 26, 2024 – The spirit of friendly competition and camaraderie will fill the air on Friday, July 26, as campers from Camp Tracy and the Summer Enrichment Program gather at Colby College for the much-anticipated Summer Camp Olympics. This day-long event promises to be a highlight of the summer, fostering teamwork, sportsmanship, and unforgettable memories.

The festivities will kick off with the Opening Ceremony at 9:15 AM, featuring a parade of athletes, the National Anthem, and flag presentations to set the tone for the day’s events. Campers, counselors, and families are all invited to join in the celebration and cheer on the participants.

Following the opening ceremonies, campers will compete in a variety of events designed to showcase their athletic skills and team spirit. The competition will include:

  • Track Events: Sprint races, relay races, and long-distance runs.
  • Swimming Competitions: Freestyle, backstroke, and relay races.
  • Basketball Games: Team matchups with a focus on teamwork and strategy.
  • Kickball Matches: Fun-filled games where campers can show off their kicking and fielding abilities.

The day will conclude with a Closing Ceremony at 3:15 PM, where medals and awards will be presented to outstanding athletes and teams. The ceremony will also feature reflections on the day’s events, celebrating the hard work and sportsmanship of all participants.

About the Summer Enrichment Program:
The Summer Enrichment Program offers a range of educational and recreational activities designed to enhance the learning and development of young people during the summer months. Our program focuses on academic support, physical activity, and social skills development.

Parking will be available for the event, but spaces are expected to fill up quickly, so please plan to arrive early. Parking and drop-off is available in the Colby College Lower Athletics Parking Lot
